在一次代号[猫王]研究中，由于博士朗（大卫帕玛饰）将爆炸范围估计错误，使得整个岛上除了研究所几名人员外，其它参与协助的十八名士兵悉数遇难。在军事法庭上，博士隐敝了这个乞讨密没有告诉法官，导致士兵直属长官布莱纳（彼德佛斯饰）被判刑。。Try as he might, the roguishly handsome Cliff Starkey, just can't keep out of trouble. In his sleepy home town on the English coast, nothing much inspires him...apart from bowls. Cliff has always preferred to play by his own rules much to the disapproval of the regimented, elderly bowls fraternity.
